How to top up the water pressure on my combi boiler?
To top up the pressure on your combi boiler, follow these steps:
-
Locate the filling loop, which is usually a flexible hose with a valve at each end. It is usually located underneath the boiler or nearby.
-
Ensure that the boiler is switched off and has cooled down.
-
Open both valves on the filling loop to allow cold mains water into the system. You should hear the water flowing.
-
Keep an eye on the pressure gauge and wait for it to reach between 1 and 1.5 bar. If you are unsure what the correct pressure should be, consult your boiler manual or contact a qualified engineer.
-
Once the pressure gauge has reached the correct level, close both valves on the filling loop.
-
Switch the boiler back on and, if needed, press the reset button.

Is it worth getting my gas boiler replaced?
The UK government has announced that the installation of new gas boilers will stop by 2035, and low-carbon heating systems such as heat pumps will take their place. However, this is only a proposal and nothing is set in stone. Furthermore, the government has recently emphasized that you still won’t be forced to get rid of your boiler until it actually needs to be replaced, even after 2035 .
